How to update an application

You can update your application for the following types of opportunities:

1. Details
2. Laterals
3. VSFS Internships

Update your application for details and laterals

You can update an application for a detail or lateral opportunity, as long as it’s still open and accepting applications.

1. Sign in to Open Opportunities.
2. Click on your name in the navigation—you will go to your dashboard.
3. Go to the list of opportunities under Participated.
4. Select the detail or lateral you want to update—you’ll go to the opportunity detail page.
5. Click Update application.
6. Update your statement of interest or resume.
7. Click Submit.

Update your application for VSFS internships

You can update an application for an internship, as long as it’s still open and accepting applications.

1. Sign in to Open Opportunities.
2. Click on your name in the navigation–you will go to your dashboard.
3. Select the application you want to update—your application will open. You will go to the internship detail page.
4. Click the Update application button.
5. Go to the page you want to edit by using the progress bar at the top of the page or by clicking the Save and continue button on each page.
6. Click Save and continue once you make your change.
7. Click Save and continue on each page following the page you edited (you don’t have to click Save and continue on any previous pages).
8. Review your application and click Update application.

You must click Update application for your changes to be submitted. Any changes you make will NOT be saved into your USAJOBS profile. All updates must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. ET on the closing date.

Update your USAJOBS profile and use your profile information to update your application

If you update your USAJOBS profile information AFTER you submit your application, and you want to use your updated profile information, you need to withdraw your application and create a new one. Creating a new application will pull over your updated USAJOBS profile information.
